What is MIG/MAG welding?

The principle of MIG-MAG welding is quite simple. During operation, welding wire is fed through the welding gun into the welding area. The wire melts due to the heat of the arc. Besides serving as a conductive electrode, the wire also acts as a filler material. The welding area (weld pool, arc zone, and electrode) is protected by a gas flow.
